As the COVID-19 Pandemic continues to create uncertainty with international travel, HD Travel President, Charlie O’Neill, remains committed to researching trip options for our customers. The health and safety of our customers will always be our number one priority.
With this in mind, Charlie visited three resorts in the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, Florida area to find a potential site for family Spring Break trips. Charlie was pleased to see the variety of options available for our travelers within the US.
In the past, we have received many requests for Spring Break options within the US. We have generally had limited success due to strict contracts, high pricing, and limited all-inclusive options within the US. Due to the disruption of COVID-19 on global travel, Charlie was pleased to see that pricing & terms will make domestic more feasible for Spring Break 2021 compared to past years.
MARGARITAVILLE HOLLYWOOD BEACH
Charlie’s first site visit was at Margaritaville in Hollywood Beach. This resort is located beachfront, on the Hollywood boardwalk, approximately 20 minutes from FLL Airport. The energy and set up of this resort is similar to many of the resorts that we work with in Mexico. As the resort is only 5 years old, you will find many modern touches throughout the property.
The three mile boardwalk located in front of the resort offers several bars and restaurants within walking distance of the property. On site, you will find multiple pools and restaurants with a variety of cuisines.
The main highlight of this property is access to many restaurants, bars and activities within walking distance of the resort. Many guests choose not to rent a car at this resort due to its central location. This would be a great domestic option for a Spring Break trip.
CONRAD FORT LAUDERDALE
Charlie’s second site visit was at the Conrad in Ft Lauderdale. This resort is located beachfront on the north side of Ft Lauderdale Beach, approximately 20 minutes from FLL Airport. This resort is also a newer property with a wide variety of room options. On site, you will find one pool and two restaurants with a variety of cuisine options.
The main highlight of this property is the ability to rent larger units with kitchens. They have several two-bedroom units which could work well for a larger family, where the kids and parents can have separate rooms, or two families that would like to share a room. The resort can even help with stocking groceries before or during your stay. This would be a great domestic option for a smaller Spring Break trip.
MARRIOTT HARBOR BEACH RESORT
Charlie’s final site visit, and host hotel, was the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. This resort is located beachfront on a private beach in Ft. Lauderdale, approximately 10 minutes from FLL airport. On site, they offer a large pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, multiple restaurants, and bars. They also offer service on their private beach and public volleyball courts a short walk away.
Between the beach, pool, and activities, there is quite a bit to do right on site and nearby. This resort would be a great option for a larger Spring Break group.
BOTTOM LINE
With several daily direct flights, great beaches, amazing weather, and ability to stay within the US, Charlie was pleased to see all that Ft. Lauderdale could offer our groups. While an argument could be made for all resorts, Charlie was most pleased to see the wide range of activities available at Marriott Harbor Beach. Of all resorts, Charlie felt this was the best option for HD Travel’s groups.
